MTS says Threads fails to get Russians interested, traffic falls
MOSCOW, Jul 21 (PRIME) -- Application Threads by Meta, banned in Russia as extremist, has failed to win much of the country’s audience and the number of its users halved two days after its launch, mobile operator MTS said in a research on Friday.
“Application Threads became available for downloading on July 6 in App Store and Google Play. The number of users of the social network in Russia increased by 2.5 times on July 7 and the mobile Internet traffic rocketed by eight times,” MTS said.
“The big data analysis showed that interest to the service started falling steadfast on July 8. The number of users shrank by 35% and mobile traffic decreased by almost three times (in comparison to July 7). The daily user base contracted on average by 28% later.”
The research showed that about 70% of users of the new application are female.
